Well, shoes better not be on dessert menu

While I know you're probably tired of hearing about the adventures of my family's canines, I have to tell you the latest. (If you're really sick of dog stories, skip ahead to the next page.)

Roxy is the cutest puppy ever. Hands down. Bar none. Her cuteness gets her a lot of attention, and it's hard to stay mad at her.

But last week, I swear, I was ready to send her to the doggy equivalent of the glue factory.

The little beast ate my new jacket. A really gorgeous washable mink-colored suede jacket I got at Nordstrom Rack in Tukwila. On Monday.

When I got home Wednesday, I was tired and bummed out. I hung the jacket on the kitchen chair, made a cup of tea and went upstairs to finish some work.

While my husband was running a couple of errands and my daughter was playing a video game, Jake, our older dog, curled up by my feet and fell asleep.

GOP primary Saturday: Consider issues when considering the candidates

We presume you are as tired as we are of the constant repetitious ads, the recorded “personal" telephone calls and happy that the primaries are finally upon us. Saturday those voting in the Republican primary will make their choices; Democrats come to the forefront on Jan. 26. In that regard, let's forget about the claims for change they make and see just where the candidates stand on some of the issues that have been raised during which may seem like the longest presidential campaign in history. According to The Associated Press reviews of statements in the press and campaign materials:

Among the Republicans (we'll cover the Democrats next Friday), on the issue of abortion rights, Rudy Guiliani favors them, Mike Huckabee favors a constitutional amendment banning them, John McCain wants to overturn Roe vs.

Mich. couple killed in accident leave $1.6 million to surprised ...

And it didn't matter to them if you had one dollar or 10, they'd be your friend."

Judging by the amount of money they doled out, the couple had many friends, including fellow parishioners at Alto United Methodist Church, where many of the beneficiaries are members.

"We, the whole church, are obviously grateful to them, and grateful to God that he gave them to us," said the Rev. Dean Bailey.

Added Bailey's wife, Jan: "They left a lot to the people they'd loved, and I think everybody was surprised."

That included the Baileys, who were notified that the Hatches had left the church about $50,000 toward a fund trying to raise $800,000 for a new building. Their gift, said the pastor, represents "about a year's worth of our fundraising capability."

Last week it was reported other teams were in for this guy, then I thought we have no chance then, but to my suprise Bolton Wanderers have come up trumps. All we need now is a quality midfielder who has a good engine on him who can from box to box like Roy Keane used to. Not to mention a out and out striker is needed, desperately. Come on Megson & Bolton Board get your money spent on a good un!! .
